DATES: Wednesday, June 10th, checking out Sunday, June 14th.
Straton Hotel 699 Main St., Durango, 970-2474431. Tina, desk supervisor, is our contact person. Total cost per room including taxes, etc.., $ 840.00, all rooms are one king bed, they do have 2 queens at an additional cost.
72-hour cancelation notice is required, otherwise we are committed to the first night at $ 280.00 per room. These are as you would expect VERY nice rooms, restaurant, bar (2) on site, nice bars, restaurants, across the street, Narrow Gauge Train 2 blocks away, shops, all in very short walking distance.
A plan of action for those in Lubbock can look like this:
Wednesday, June 10th _ Some of us desire to go to Durango in a " 2-day event" vs all the way on Thursday, June 11th. It is after all 540 miles. We do have a hotel set up in Albuquerque for Wednesday evening at Green Tree Inn 505-828-1600. It is on I-25 on the far north side of town. The rate is $ 103.00. Tell them you are with the Porsche Club, Rick Garlock.
Thursday, June 11th- We will head to Durango and arrive about 2:30 to 3:15 pm (MT) Those who decide to leave Lubbock on Thursday morning, we will meet you in Durango expecting that arrival about 6:00 pm (MT). Thursday through Saturday June 13th will be staying at Strater Hotel 970-5916397. If you have not shared with Rick that you are going, you will have to make your own reservation.
Friday, June 12th- About 9:30 AM from the lobby of our host hotel we will leave to drive the Million Dollar HWY, by means of Cortez, Telluride, and back to Durango. Of course we will stop for lunch in route. We are driving this in the counter clockwise direction. Social and dinner will take place about 5:00 to 5:30 pm.
Saturday, June 13th- is an easy day, some will take in sights in town, hang out, see museums, others may go to Cortez, or even Mesa Verde, etc. We will meet back at the host hotel at 4:30. At 5:30 we will go to Bar D Chuckwagon for dinner and their show. Tickets are $ 44.00 per person, for those who have told me they are going on this trip, I have these tickets for them already. Those who are not doing this Chuckwagon dinner/show, may do a dinner in town.
Sunday, June 14th- We will check out, leave about 8:30 maybe 9:00 AM and head back home. Remember, when coming home we lose an hour from MT to CT. This is 540 miles and 8.5 hours driving time.
