What to do for the weekend: This is proposed.

  • Friday night: Have a get together on Friday night.  Mountain Trails Lodge has a place to do that, or if someone rents the                                        1-Bedroom or 2-Bedroom we could have it there. Lodge Telephone: 432-426-3481.  Ask for Jeanine.

  • Saturday: Breakfast on your own.  Options for Saturday day:

    • Fort Davis: Drive out through very scenic country on nice Porsche roads, a couple of options.  Old Fort Davis at the U.S. National Park's historic site.  McDonald Observatory Visitor's Center is open from 12:00 to 4:30, with solar viewing at 1:00 p.m., a guided tour at 2:00 p.m., and Star Party at 9:30 p.m. (highly recommended).

    • Marfa: Drive to Marfa, about 20 miles.  Marfa has art galleries and related activities, too many to mention.  See the Marfa Chamber of Commerce website for the options.  View the Marfa Lights if you are lucky.  They are strange.

    • Alpine: drive to Alpine.  It has the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center and other things to do.  Again, research it on the web.

    • Big Bend National Park: take a long scenic drive to Big Bend; will take all day.

  • Saturday night: Meet somewhere for dinner; several options.

  • Sunday: return home.
