Trip to Colorado: Departing Thursday August 8th returning Sunday, August 11th.

Thursday:
1- We shall meet at the stripes on 82 nd and I-27 at 8:30 AM on Thursday August 8th
2- We will drive to Pagosa Springs, Colorado and stay at Alpine Inn at Pagosa Springs
3- Distance is just under 500 miles so we should arrive about 5:45 to 6:00 pm MT
Friday:
1- Drive out, South Fork, Creede, Silverton, Durango, Pagosa Springs, this is a 320-mile round trip,( Million dollar Highway) and we may adjust any of this depending on what everyone wishes are. (as in the past trips)
2- Lunch will be determined as we see fit on the road
3- This will be a 9-hour day including lunch time and stops, averaging 45 mph. (of course!!) We should depart about 9:00 AM return about 6:00 pm
4- Dinner will be determined as we see fit, about 7:00 pm or sooner, at which point we will decide what to do on Saturday.
Saturday:
1- Free day, some will stay in town, see the shops, walk around, relax, some might wish to drive to Durango, 60 miles or even to Mesa Verde, 95 miles to see the dwellings, or some might want to go back to South fork to enjoy and have lunch.
2- Dinner, meet back in the lobby for dinner at 5:30 pm to 6:00pm, dinner to be determined as we see fit.
Sunday: Checkout of hotel, leave about 8:30 AM return to Lubbock by 7:30 pm, an hour for lunch and an hour for loss from time zone. Some might leave ahead of us or go to Santa Fe or Albuquerque, etc. perhaps some might make their own reservations to stay Sunday night somewhere, our plan it to go all the way home.

POLICIES: please call the hotel and give them your credit card number and remove a room from Rick Garlock and put in your name. Room rate is $ 109.95 per night per room. There is a 72 HOUR CANCELATION NOTICE timeframe!! If there are rooms still open at the 72-hour time, I will be calling to cancel these as I don’t want to get charged for them.

In summary: As in the past we leave these trips loose and fluid and no hard tight schedules as we are open to spur of the moment ideas and suggestions. When we arrive at the hotel, we will pick up information pamphlets to see what is also available and relax with” refreshments” and discuss our plan of action. PS: I was originally planning on us to go and stay at Telluride, Colorado and looked all over and the hotels there as well as in Ouray, Colo., are $ 300.00 a night! So, I quickly ruled that out and being that I have been to Pagosa Springs in the past knew this is a nice area too. They have hot springs and hot tubs and bath houses too! We will find plenty to do on this trip! Thanks, Rick
